It's Christmas Time in the City -- A Visit to Macy's

I was all set to share Pepe's cheerful good looks today for Monkey Monday, but I had the opportunity to visit a most well loved Christmas "M" and I've postponed Pepe's appearance. I literally was passing Macy's at 11:30 this morning and it was too good a photographic opportunity to pass up. Happily I met another monkey during my visit, so we will still have some Monkey Monday fun, as well as the Macy's decorations.

Today I had one of the medical appointments on my list, a cardiac stress test on East 34th Street. It's the farthest reach from Macy's, but it's still on 34th Street. I made a quick change in my planned route to get to see this...

...and this.

The details of world landmarks was wonderful. I'm dreaming of seeing so many of them.

I also learned about Macy's Believe campaign. For every letter to Santa that Macy's receives -- up to a million -- a dollar will be given to the Make a Wish Foundation. There were desks throughout the store and children were writing letters to Santa.

The store was crowded, but it wasn't overwhelming or impossible to get around. I treated myself to lunch -- love department store lunches -- and had a great time looking at the Christmas candy assortment. So many treats to pick from.

I didn't buy anything, but this was definitely my favorite for looking. It's too pretty to eat.

Here is our Monkey Monday picture. I couldn't resist taking a picture of Curious George all dressed up in his pajamas and surrounded by friends.

I hope you had as much fun as I did on our visit to Macy's. George and I wish you sweet dreams and a terrific Tuesday. As ever, thanks for visiting.

I also loved to visit the Herald Square Macy's at Christmas. Do they still have the "Believe" themed window displays? They had the best window animation! Last year my friend and I actually went on the line in Macy's to visit Santa Claus---lol! It was so funny! I think the poor man thought we really wanted to sit on his knee--but all we did was shake his hand. I blogged about it last year.

I hope your stress test went well, Carol! Thanks for all the NYC posts --I love seeing them!

Actually it wasn't last year --it was two years ago that I saw Macy's Santa! Oh my --time flies! It was the month before I moved to Colorado.

When my children were growing up we used to go to the symphony on Saturday mornings, then would have lunch in the department stores in downtown Pittsburgh. It was a wonderful time. However the only big box store of any caliber here in this town is Macy's. LOVE your pictures of it in the big city.

I was at our Macy's yesterday. You wouldn't believe the difference between it and yours there. Unbelievable. The theme was the same though. Believe is a favorite theme of mine too. Hope they get lots of letters. Make a wish is a worthy cause. Hope you do have a terrific Tuesday !

No one does it like Macy's.

I hope your stress test went well. I just got the results from mine and all was well. I still have many miles to go.

What a wonderful campaign that Macy's is sponsoring!
Make a Wish is a wonderful organization, and I hope that they receive a lot of donations :)

Those lights are stunning! SO pretty... everything really has a magical feel to it.
Thanks again for sharing this magical time of year in your city.

Hi Carol, Oh those bears! So precious. I love Curious George! What does a Macy's NYC bear cost these days? That one is awfully cute too. I love the ginger bread house. All your photos are so lovely. I like that Believe campaign. I like to see money go to a great cause! Hugs, Anne
