Buttercup's Wardrobe Malfunction

Yes, you read the title correctly. Buttercup has had a wardrobe malfunction. Actually I've had more than one. Gratefully, my wardrobe malfunctions are of little interest to the wider world and the last one I can remember took place before the advent of social media. There was no colleague with a cell phone to post this moment on Twitter or Facebook, and for that I am eternally grateful. But it seems almost every day there is an internet article about a celebrity's wardrobe malfunction. In this internet world they cannot hide.

In the interest of all that is appropriate and decent -- yes, I still use the word decent -- there will be no photographs of any kind accompanying this post.  Buttercupland is a wardrobe malfunction photo free zone and it's definitely going to stay that way. There's no smoking, no taxes and no humiliating pictures of anyone's rear or other body part that's not for sharing.

I'm pretty sure most of us have had wardrobe malfunctions, but not being famous they are only blips in time we choose not to remember. My most memorable one came about before a meeting where I was meeting the senior staff of a department in which I was a new member. Nervous, you bet! But, I was wearing my nice navy suit and matching polka dot blouse and I got to the meeting fifteen minutes early. I had time to go to the rest room and comb my hair etc. before the meeting. Alas, when I left the rest room,  my skirt was tucked in my panty hose. Luckily one of my colleagues pulled me aside two seconds later and I got myself back to presentable in a heartbeat. I remember saying, "Thanks. I'm so glad no one else saw that." Her reply sticks with me forever..."You were standing in front of the security camera."

I can smile about this now, but it gave me a very personal understanding of the term "wardrobe malfunction." If it can happen to Buttercup, it can happen to anyone. In the interest of returning this world to a slightly kinder place can there be fewer -- or no -- articles about wardrobe malfunctions? We all deserve at least fifteen seconds of privacy, famous or not.

On a different note...We had what I think will be our last day of almost summer. I took advantage of sixty degree weather to eat lunch outside and do lots of errands. It was the perfect day. Tomorrow the sidewalk cafes may be history until next spring. But today it was coffee and a sandwich outside.

As ever, thanks for visiting and take care!

LOL. How funny that my most embarrassing moment also involved my skirt stuck in my pantyhose. Unfortunately for me, I walked all the way across a hotel dining room. It wasn't until I got up to leave that I realized the malfunction.

I agree with you, Buttercup. I believe the last day of summer has arrived here! Winter is knocking at the door! Hopefully your warm winter wear will not malfunction. xo

Oh, yes - one more reason I no longer wear pantyhose! I got out my snow boots today - no outdoor cafes for me.

Love your ability to chuckle at yourself!
(Albeit years after the fact ... but think of the comic relief you inadvertently provided some poor security guard!)

Haven't we all been humiliated at one time or another?

Still, I appreciate your keeping "Buttercupland" a G-rated, 'safe' zone!

Thank you for making me laugh! I've had a few malfunctions along the way and can smile at them now, too. I can't even write down the most embarrassing, though--still can't! :-) But one funny one was I got to work one day, long ago, and saw that I had one black shoe and one blue shoe, in different styles, on my feet. How that happened, I don't know.

Carol, I had the exact same thing happen to me at church no less. Thankfully I only got partway down the hall before someone saw and stopped me, saving me the embarassment of entering the chapel proper! Whew! Very embarassing, and thankfully I am not a celeb as well! I cannot imagine what it is like to have every little faux pas tweeted or posted online for the world to see! xxoo

I had a wardrobe malfunction on my wedding day. I had a hoop skirt and when I came out of the bathroom at our reception the back of the skirt was tucked in my pantyhose! My husband graciously pulled me aside and told me I might want to go back and fix my dress. As I turned around to go back I heard the crowd roar! A funny memory. I too am thankful there was no social media in 1985!

I used to hate shopping for underthings, but a bit of lost weight taught me otherwise...
Dressed for an interview, proud of having lost 30 lbs., head held high as I stepped into the HR office, and then it happened: my underwear began sliding downward... taking my stockings with it! Gripping my gravity-obeying undies with both fists, through my skirt, I stuttered my way through the interview...

I know you giggle remembering that day but I am sure you were horrified at the moment it happened! Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!

I betcha you handed it with grace!--I walked today with a sole from right hiking boot torn up and I ended up pretty much walking bare flat bottom in the snow and ice, and well...what is a girl suppose to do? Keep on with her day. Blessings

Funny post, brought back memories of high school when walking home from school one day a car load of guys drove by, honked and waved. Nothing to be to alarmed about until they circled the block again and then I happened to notice my coat had caught my dress and pulled it up so my panties in back were showing. Oh so embarrassing.

My malfunction was bad but not too embarrassing. I was a job fare and the seam connecting my sleeve to the back of the shirt ripped. I just kept my right arm down and didn't use it.
