The Road to Hell is Paved with Bags of Mini Candy Bars...

...Not Literally, of course.

I stopped at the grocery tonight to pick up a few things for the week. I was hungry and feeling a lot less than my most perky Buttercup self, which is the worst time to grocery shop. I've been eating so healthily since my return from BlogHer and I've made every effort to stick to a list when I grocery shop, which saves both money and calories. My list did include a single sized serving of one of my favorite flavors of ice cream, mint chocolate chip.

Alas, no cups of mint chocolate chip, and I was able to walk away from the other alluring treats. But as I rounded the aisle I just about walked into the very early Halloween candy display. I love candy, and it doesn't have to be anything fancy. I am content with a Hershey bar or a KitKat. The mini-bars are the most treacherous for me. They are small and look so innocent, but the first one is just a tease and before I know it I've had three or four, and there is a pile of little candy wrappers all around. It took every ounce of determination to wheel my cart past this tower of temptation. But I am pleased to say I wheeled right to the fruit section and placed a container of watermelon in my cart.

This was my first victory over candy for the 2014 Halloween season. I know it's going to be a tough fight, but mini-candy bars, you're not going to beat Buttercup this year. You've had your seasons, but this one belongs to me.

As always, thanks for stopping by. So enjoy my visitors and wish you all a wonderful Wednesday.

I have the same problem with KitKat bars! I love them. I was good this week and bought grapes and peaches instead!

Do you have KitKat Chunky bars in NY? If not, I'd be happy to send you one! However, I did read your post and see you are trying to avoid such temptation (sorry I'm not being very helpful).

On my last trip to the grocery story I didn't do as good as you did and came home with a bag of chocolates. It was a mixed bag of my favorites. I'm thinking one a day might be good for me.

Buttercup, Good for you !! my problems is cookies. I told my granddaughter Savannah , who is some what over weight, that I would give up eating SO many cookies. Then I asked her what she ate that was fattening, she replied ice cream. I said well that is a hard thing to give up, how about you just eat a scoop less in your bowl . She and I are trying to lose 5 pounds. That's our start. I just wanted to encourage her and not have her feel bad. I am wishing you a great victory. Me too. xoxo,Susie

When did the road to h**l get so expensive??? *Haha*!!
Last year, around here anyway, mini candy bars were 2 bags for $5.00.
Maybe the bags in your picture are larger bags. I'm talking about the 12-16 oz. bags.

The price of candy alone, is enough to keep me on the straight and narrow path ***giggle**!!!

Yikes, Buttercup, that candy is expensive down there! Good for you for sticking to your plan. Blessings (I'm afraid, I couldn't, sad to say, smiles)

Yes, the mini's do look so innocent. Candy is about the same price here and I stocked up on York Peppermint Patties the other day. Sinful and so are KitKats!

Noooooo!! They have appeared in Costco, but I will stand firm against the temptation - at least for this week.

Halloween candy displays are the worst. I'm fighting my candy demons too. I opted for a bag of fresh cherries instead. NATURE'S CANDY, right?

Kudos to you for bypassing that candy! If I don't bring it home with me, there is no temptation to eat it!
