(Semi) Random 5 Friday

Once again it's time for Random 5 Friday. Stop over and visit Nancy and the Random Fivers and have some of the most fun you can have without calories.

1) However, speaking of calories...

Is it any wonder I make so little progress on the calorie issue? The sign called to me -- especially nutella -- but I said no thank you. I'm not sure I can keep resisting. It's only a block away from where I wait for the bus after exercise class.

2) Speaking of exercise class...I left after half the class today. It was all aerobics, never my favorite, and I was just lost. I thought four days a week would work for me, but I see that the Tuesday and Thursday classes are the best for me. I haven't tried the gentle yoga class on Tuesdays, but am looking forward to trying it next week.

3) Another exercise thought...I've actually gone to six classes and it looks like a keeper. I've started a lot of exercise classes in the last few decades, but I'm not sure I attended six classes at any of them. I didn't get any exercise clothes, not knowing if I would keep going, and it's time I try on some stretchy things that are easy to wash, and then dry quickly. This is one of my projects for the next week.

4) I'm trying not to jump into the autumn, but I've started to think about the new apple crop. Love the first crisp apples of the season.

5) One of my favorite sights on New York City streets are dog walkers and dogs. This group was on Park Avenue this afternoon.

Hope you had fun with today's Random Five. Please stop by tomorrow for a trip to the Metropolitan Museum and wishes for a great Saturday.

I would strongly recommend getting some new exercise clothes. It really helps make the whole thing a little more fun. I just started exercising regularly this summer too.

Yay for dog walkers and dogs! :). And speaking of them, have you ever read 'The New Yorkers' by Cathleen Schine? It's a great and fun novel about New Yorkers and their canines!

I'm glad you're liking your exercise class! And i never would be able to resist the Nutella. Ever.

Great random five Carol! I need to seriously take up exercising again. I stop because of my arthritis, but then I put on weight, which makes my arthritis worse. It's a vicious circle!

I would have a difficult time passing that place-good for you at your exercise classes...I love yoga and new exercise gear is essential ;-)

Nutella is very good on bread or crackers.

Congrats on keeping up with your exercise classes. The ones I wanted are or Tuesdays and Thursdays. Jury Duty calls on those days, so I'll have to wait until it's over before I can go.

I wouldn't have an trouble passing by the milkshakes, but if it had been a bakery - well, I'd have been in there in a flash.

Signs of fall are starting to pop here. Summer is fast fading and it is looking like it here. I give you credit for the exercise classes you are doing. I've never done any at all. I do love to walk and used to do a lot of it but not so much of that anymore. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Oh, nutella is my kryptonite! Once my husband's daughter brought a big jar to us during a visit. We begged her never to do it again, as we have zero self-control when that stuff is in the house.

I exercise at home. I love Ellen Barrett's videos...I get a good workout but don't feel exhausted and miserable afterward. I also do yoga (I used to teach it part-time), and I'm all for a gentle class.

Nice to find your blog! I found it on Nancy's Random 5 links.

Isn't exercising 6 days a week pretty excessive? I understand that every other day is better for you.

What a lot of interesting thoughts...I, too, am eyeing up my apple trees and thinking 'how long'. I'm not in a hurry for the autumn tho'! The dog walkers did look funny! Joan

It's comforting to know those treats are just steps away - in case you need revival after class.

Autumn!!! Oh my.

Dog walkers . . . I wonder if I'd enjoy being a dog walker? Doesn't that sound like terrific fun?

love & love,

Carol -- kudos for sticking with the exercise classes. I started walking my farm lane about three weeks ago on a regular basis and it really helps.

Have you heard about Paleo? I've been on it for the same three weeks and the weight is really coming off. It might be of interest to you.

Have an awesome weekend dear!

For exercise it is all about if you like it, and it sounds like you found some good classes. I started exercising in a warm indoor pool in 1999 and have continued ever since. Buy yourself some cute exercise clothes, like you mentioned.
Hmmm, crisp apples in fall, yum.

Well at least now I know if we ever have to move to NYC I will have a job opportunity ~ love the dog walkers too.

Well, Buttercup. My "exercise" would have to be when I "exercised restraint" passing up those tasty shakes.:-) Didn't work too well with homemade potato chips earlier today, though.:-)

I was thinking of visiting the apple orchard today! We live near one and they have the best apple slushie! It is pure apple cider in slushie ice form.
Hooray for the exercise and thinking of getting some clothes for it. That will be fun.
