(Not Too) Random Five Friday

Thanks to my friend, Nancy, at A Rural Journal, I'm joining the fun at Random Five Friday.

1. I'm lucky Nancy posts Random Five because I've had virtually no blog interest since I got back from BlogHer 13. I have a long list of follow up email I'd like/need to do and I'm not very quickly working through it. I didn't post yesterday and I've barely visited any blogs. In theory I'm an eager blogger, but in reality for the last day I'd rather play games on my phone.

2. I am happy to report that I attended two exercise classes this week. This morning's class had a lot of dance in it and I was totally lost ten minutes into the class. I was always on the opposite foot from our instructor and my arms never seemed to be moving in the right direction. I had trouble learning shuffle-ball -change in first grade tap class, and fifty plus years haven't changed much. I am also happy to report that I wasn't injured, nor did I injure any of my classmates.

3. I did get to the Library yesterday for my volunteer job and I got to participate in a fabulous fundraiser for a wonderful cause, Look Good...Feel Better. This great group provides services to people with cancer to help combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. There are programs all over the world -- the program in France is called Belle et Bien -- and it's positive and upbeat at a very difficult time.

 4. I signed up to meet with the Beauty Editor of Elle Magazine, and yes, it was as much fun as I expected, or possibly more fun. Emily -- I feel we're on a first name basis -- was funny, nice, interesting and had some excellent skin care advice.

5. The event was held at Saks Fifth Avenue and a number of magazines were paired with skincare and makeup companies. Elle was at the LaMer counter and I was delighted. LaMer is an amazing line of skincare and the gift they gave to participants was a fabulous tube of body lotion. It feels so good and the aroma makes me feel I'm on a fabulous exotic beach getaway.

The LaMer counter

As ever, greetings from New York City on a perfect summer's day. Hope your day holds lots of fun things for you, too!

Well, after your whirlwind two weeks, I don't blame you one bit for taking a step back from Blogland. Deep breaths and lots of lovely sleep!

PS - I had to chuckle about your mention of dance/exercise class. I was born uncoordinated, and age hasn't done anything to improve that situation.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Must be something in the air because I haven't blogged all week. Just can't seem to sit here and write.

Sometimes you just have to take it down a knotch.

Looks like fun.

Sometimes, once I get out of the habit of blogging --and visiting others' blogs, it's hard to get motivated again... Guess that is normal!!!!!

But it looks like you have had a good week.... Exercising is so important ---but not my idea of fun... I couldn't dance either --and always seemed to have two left feet... ha ha

Hope you have a great weekend and next week.... I'm taking a blog break to celebrate my 71st birthday..... Goodness.
Hugs,
Betsy

It sounds like you are having a fabulous time . . . I'm kinda thinking YOU get to be the boss of blogging . . not the other way around. How about you do what's good/right for YOU - and not sweat the other stuff . . . LIFE ItSelf - and your Happiness Factor - I vote for that. (I vote for YOU.)
love & love, -g-

You haven't slowed down in retirement at all, have you?
I am pretty happy that we are going to have Sak's up here north of the border! I have such fond memories of Sak's Fifth Avenue - even had my own Sak's card in the '70's and would be so very happy to resurrect it!

Carol -- you are turning into Carrie Bradshaw. :)

Whenever I have returned from a trip, it generally takes me at least a week to get back into a "normal" routine. Also, when I am tired, the last thing I can do is have energy to think or blog.
Good for you on the exercise and even if you weren't in sync with the rest of them, you were moving and that's the purpose of it all. it will get easier with repetition.
Sounds like a wonderful time at the library. Glad you shared it with us!

I wish I could have gone to the Chicago BlogHer Convention, Carol. The timing never seems right for me. It sounds like it was a lot of fun! I love that city. Think they will ever hold one in Denver?

I have used La Mer lotion -- it's so luxuriant! Love it!

I'm sure you will get back into the blogging grove again soon. It's the "close to the end of summer" doldrums and everyone seems rather quiet these days getting in the last rays :)
