Pinterest (Small) Kitchenfest

One of my major activities for the last few days has been looking at kitchens and home offices on Pinterest. It's not to the exclusion of going to work or physical therapy or eating meals. But Pinterest has taken the place of watching television and doing crossword puzzles, two of my other major leisure activities and somewhat sadly, it's taken some blogging time away, too. But it's been lots of fun and I've gotten some good ideas for things I'd like to do in my apartment in the next few years.

My apartment is nice sized for New York City, but small for most places in the United States, and my kitchen is tiny. I realized I was admiring big, roomy kitchens. Since I have no plans to move at this time I am going to be working with my present small kitchen. I did a search on Pinterest and found some very good small kitchen ideas. This kitchen pictured above was in the small kitchen section and I like the built-ins which save a lot of space. I'm not sure how small this kitchen actually is, but it's a lot smaller than most of the kitchens on Pinterest. In my kitchen I use every scrap of space, so those shelves over the sink would probably hold my collection of flower vases. No empty shelves in Buttercup's kitchen!

Even in the biggest kitchen space needs to be used well. Any suggestions for ideas you've used to make your kitchen space more efficient will be gladly accepted.

In just a little while my Pinterest mania will be replaced by my every four years' obsession -- the Olympics! I particularly enjoy swimming and gymnastics, but the competition grows on me and by the end of the games I am watching every sport avidly.

Have a sweet Saturday!

I was just admiring that pix on Pinterest a little while ago! Isn't it amazing what great ideas are out there?

Unlike my "dream" board, I actually prefer small, cozy spaces, and long to return to an apartment/condo.
Someday, maybe.

Meanwhile... let the Games begin!!!!

I love looking at kitchens - built ins are awesome! I love the creative spice spaces some of them have too!

That kitchen from Pinterest looks nice. Efficent too, just like you said. Mine is a mess. The cabinets are 60 years old, custom built by a guy who was 6'4 or taller. I can NOT reach the second shelf without a stepstool. Try doing that with bad knees. So everything is out on the counters. ENJOY Pinterest and the Olympics! take care.

I too have a small kitchen and there are no empty shelves either. Everything has its place and there's no room to do it otherwise. I know the answer to my problem would be to have less stuff, but I do like my stuff so there we have it. It's always nice to dream.
Hope your Saturday is a super one!

I love the very bottom drawer. I have not seen that before anywhere. Also, like how the countertop goes around the corner. Leave a space for a step stool cuz those shelves look high.
Your research looks like fun. Check out RV storage, too because they may have ideas. They truly use every inch in their vehicles. Doesn't HGTV have or had a show called "This Small Space"? There may be ideas there, too.

Lovely Buttercup you do deserve a big kitchen :)...you're too lovely and creative for a small one :). If you love gymnastics then you'll probably love my Romanian gymnasts too :). May the best win!

I'm thinking I could redo my kitchen or give up cooking. Guess which one I'm leaning towards?

HI BUTTERCUP,
I love that efficient kitchen....I have a large kitchen for just the 2 of us now....when I moved in...I used to laugh and say..look nothing in this cabinet....nope nothing in this one.....another one...nope nothing in there either..I was embarresed when people came over and said I would love all this space and would probably fill it up with all my kitchen junk.....well 9 years later.....I have filled up ALOT of that space...more out of blogging ideas....seeing everyone's colorful tables inspired me....so I bought dishes on sale....alot....I also inherited my MIL and her Mother's dishes.....so if I ever MOVE....big sale is going to happen...I would love to move to something smaller.....perhaps a NYC apartment!!!
Dreams.....a dream board....What????Did I miss something else????Great idea!!
hugs,
