Thank You, Jeffrey Zaslow

The author of this wonderful book about women's friendships, Jeffrey Zaslow died yesterday in an automobile accident. He was fifty-three. I'm struggling with words to describe my feelings. No I didn't know him, but his writing, both in "The Girls from Ames" and the wondrous "The Last Lecture," which he co-authored with Randy Pausch, touched me deeply. I am always sad when a young person dies -- and the definition of young grows older as I grow older -- and I am especially sad tonight when I realize that there will be no more books by Jeffrey Zaslow.

I am not familiar with this author but how sad that his life was cut short. This book looks like a great read.

I read The Last Lecture and gave a copy to my daughter. It touched my heart. I also bought The Girl's From Ames. But haven't read it, yet. I had not heard this news about Mr. Zaslow. I am stunned. This is so sad. Thank you for letting your blog buddies know.

I was SO touched by The Last Lecture -- but didn't recognize the name.
The Girls from Ames sounds like a winner ... I'm going to the library's request page now.

Like you, I'm saddened by lives cut short too soon.

I'm sorry....I haven't read his works...but how special that he left these pieces behind for all to read.

I'm shocked at the news about Whitney Houston this evening too.

Hi There, I didn't know Jeffrey Zaslow---but it's always sad to lose such a young person with so much talent.

Tonight I heard about the death of Whitney Houston. She was only 48. What a horrible loss. She was SO talented.

Hope you are having a good weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

I was sad to hear this too. It does feel like the loss of a good friend when we connect with books from an author in such an emotional way.

Jeffrey was a local author (West Bloomfield, MI). It has been a shock to many of us. He has been featured in several articles in the past weeks for his latest book 'The Magic Room'. We are all saddened by this.

So sad- I read the Last Lecture and followed the story because Pancreatic Cancer is prevalent in my family. Sometimes you can spend your life worrying about dying from a genetic disorder and sometimes you just lose control on a snowy road. I'm gonna go eat some Key Lime on a stick.

Looking forward an upbeat post soon!.
