I'll Never Be Too Old...

...to swoon over movie stars...

My first movie star crush was Clark Gable, with Leslie Howard right behind. Yes, I loved "Gone With the Wind." Time went by and Dennis Quaid and Kevin Costner were favorites. But in the last few years I had no favorite movie star. It was a wasteland for me and movie star romance. But I've got a new movie star honey. It started slowly years ago with....

...this wonderful version of "Pride and Prejudice."

And I lost my heart totally this afternoon at an unlikely movie, "Tailor, Tinker, Soldier, Spy."

Colin Firth

There wasn't a scrap of romance in the movie, in fact it was the epitome of anti-romance, but it had some of the best acting I've ever seen, with a great cast and an absorbing story and Colin Firth. I'd been told that it would be hard to follow the movie, and it did take concentration, but it was a wonderful afternoon, and I've got a new movie sweetheart. I'm sure I share him with millions of other women, but it's nice to know that even at 60-plus I can still fall in love at the movies.

Does anyone else have a movie sweetheart? I'd love to know who your movie sweethearts were growing up. Any Clark Gable fans here?

Wishing you a sweetheart of a week!

Rhett Butler .... oh yeah!!!

Lots and lots of years ago, I'd swoon over Clint Eastwood. Nowdays, it's Armand Assante who makes my toes curl. :)

You're right ... we're never too old!

Mine crush always seemed to be musicians. Elvis was my first when I was just a little girl. I loved Colin Firth in "Pride and Prejudice", and recently in The King's Speech. That movie was excellent.
Have a great week!
Blessings,
Marcia

Colin Firth is a very talented actor. And handsome too. Being smitten is only natural. LOL Off the top of my head Did NOT really see alot of movies when I was a kid. Had a crush on David Jansen, though.

Oh yes, I am a Clark Gable fan! And my heroine is Scarlett... God, I loved her spunk and nastiness! LOL! Vivien Leigh had a hard life though... As for now, I like a "younger" man... I have always been crazy about Keanu Reeves!!!!!!!!
Best,
Gloria
P.S. Watch SOMTHINGS GOTTA GIVE with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson - Keanu is in that movie, as the "younger" guy and I love him in it!

I have a list as long as your arm, brought up on black and white movies, I loved:
James Stewart
Spencer Tracy
Humphrey Bogart
Alan Ladd
Robert Taylor
Errol Flynn
Clark Gable

and that is just for starters.

Modern day film stars don't have the same appeal for me, but some favourites:
Sean Connery
Ewan McGregor
Alan Rickman
Pierce Brosnan
Colin Firth

What about female film stars? :)

Oh my...I don't know of Colin. I guess I am just out of the know. I'd better get with it.
I have had a special love going for Mark Harmon for years. He just lives about an hour from me in a quiet little mountain town with his wife of over 20 years. Locals say he is always seen at local stores and cafes. I just might have to move there... I wonder if John would mind???
Have a great week and a great new year. Hugs, Lura

Another English actor, Ioan Gruffudd. I saw him in a PBS production and then he starred in the movie Amazing Grace a few years ago. ~Roberta
