Sunday in New York

After yesterday's excitement today was a quiet day. I spent the morning catching up on indoor chores and made a batch of carrot-apple-ginger soup. The apples were a new addition to my favorite standby soup and they work well in it. I went out this afternoon to a benefit book sale which supports social service programs in the neighborhood. I found some great Christmas presents and am feeling (somewhat) organized in that area.

While yesterday was bright and sunny and a perfect fall day, today had a much more reflective look of late November. It seemed that the leaves had dropped off the trees overnight and I saw more bare branches than bright autumn leaves. One plus is that the details on the wonderful turn-of-the century brownstones in the neighborhood are much easier to see.

I hope everyone is having a sweet Sunday. I've got a cup of coffee -- at this hour decaf, of course! -- and the NY Times puzzle ahead of me. I hope your evening is as relaxed and happy.

Sweet Sunday. Even though I am retired two years, I still enjoy cooking on Sundays, and a whole lot of relaxing with the paper afterwards~ xo

Quiet days after busy ones are most appreciated in my life. It just doesn't happen too often.

Glad you have a nice restful evening ahead of you. I remember when I worked how much that was appreciated. It's all pretty much bare here too and it's been a dark dreary day, but cozy inside so that's where I've been.

me again...

John and I will be in NYC early Dec. Any chance you would have time to meet for coffee/lunch on the 2nd? Also, any suggestions for things to see/do around Times Square. Appreciate your thoughts :)

Sounds like my kind of day. ENJOY the rest of yours. GORGEOUS photo of the Brownstones. It feels good to have a handle on holiday shopping. I am usually so disorganized, but everything works out in the end. Take care.

One thing I do miss about living in upstate NY is the architecture - - - not only in the homes but also the cathedrals. It is beautiful - - - - somewhat "Old World" in many areas.

I love seeing your Saturday treat as well. How fun to be off with friends and have such a lovely day. Ending of course with a wonderful taste treat. Toffee, did you say toffee? Oh count me in as well.

Have a beautiful Thanksgiving sweet friend. Thank you so much for being a blogging friend and having blessed my life. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
