Ultimate Comfort Food

...And now for something totally frivolous!

We could probably discuss what is the ultimate comfort food. My list would definitely include macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes. I once frequented a bar that served mashed potatoes as the free food of the evening and in my younger years considered innumerable dinners to be a glass of wine and mashed potatoes.

But breakfast is my favorite meal -- especially the long lazy breakfasts of weekends and vacations. In my dream breakfast -- as in Buttercupland where there are no calories and no cholesterol -- I'd have a big glass of fresh squeezed juice and a there would be a pot of coffee with half and half. Forget the daily skim milk!

But now comes the tough part...Do I pick waffles?

With whipped cream and strawberries and bananas

Or do I pick French toast?
Made with Challah bread and lots of maple syrup

Help! They both look fabulous. Which one is your favorite?

And on a different note...I am always appreciative of the prayers of my blog friends and wanted to share that a most amazing answer to prayer happened today. Buttercup is counting her blessings tonight!

That is a very hard choice, but I guess I'd chose the french toast. I'm thankful for your answered prayer too and hope your Tuesday is a terrific one.

In SharonLand, breakfast would work for EVERY meal (can you tell it's my favorite also?), so have waffles for breakfast, french toast for dinner!

Breakfast is not my favorite meal - - but one thing I love for that meal is hash brown potatoes - - the kind that are shredded and lightly browned. Running a close second (almost a tie) are potatoes and onions on the grill - - but don't brown the onions. And if the potatoes were leftover baked potatoes with the skins still on them - - well, that would be even more delish!

They both look delicious to me! I won't be picky.

Mashed potatoes are definitely the ultimate comfort food for me. I'll even take instant, if I must.

I don't go in for breafast usually...toast and a cup of tea is my usual...but on holiday...well full english is on the menu...fried egg, bread, 2 sausages, hash brown, black pudding, baked beans !! followed by the toast thick with butter..mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I think I will stick with my usual !!
Over here French Toast is usually a savoury dish and served with salt and tom.sauce..maybe...I have never had it with maple syrup I saw everyone on the cruise have it that way but I coudn't face sweet things at breakfast.
Love Sybil xx

French Toast for me!
I love to go out and get fancy pancakes at a restuarant but I can never eat them all with all that extra goodness on top. Just too much for me but oh so good!

Do I have to choose? Can I have one of both??? They look too good to just choose one. I love both waffles and French toast.

We are back in CA. I've enjoyed getting caught up with your recent posts. I am wishing you a very happy new year.

My house is a mess today because I've been taking decorations down and packing them up.(If you visit my blog you will see what I mean.) I had hoped the new year elves would come and do it while we were in Utah but they didn't.

Have a great week. Hugs,Lura

I lived by one of those bars in my twenties! More dinners than I would care to admit were wine and waffle fries...sometimes with cheese. Oh to get that metabolism back!

Happy Blogaversary!
