On This Lovely August Afternoon...

...I have officially begun my Christmas shopping. I had a less than positive experience in Macy's last night, which reminded me for the hundredth time that shopping in NYC is often not fun. At least, it's often not fun after work, and it's never fun around Christmas. On one of the online auction sites I bought my first Christmas gift and a wedding present for one of my favorite adorable young couples who are getting married in February. I feel so organized.

It's been a nice day. Lunch with a friend -- no line at our favorite brunch place -- some errands and off to the Metropolitan Museum later today. I'm so excited about tomorrow. I have tickets to see the Yankees play the Mariners. Hoping for good weather. If I can figure out how to get my Flip Video Camera to work there may even be videos!

On another pretty summer afternoon I took this picture, which I'd like to share.

Wishes for summer breezes, pretty flowers and loved ones to share these last days of August!

It was a lovely afternoon, but now showers have taken our fun indoors. Hopefully it will stop this evening so we can still get outside and enjoy a lovely day. No matter the rain I can still here 3 of my grand'babes' giggling away. They don't care about the rain.

:D You have pretty pics, too! :D Love nature shots.

Christmas shopping? You know, I happened to tune past QVC today and they had the neatest thing--I tried to think of someone who would like it for Christmas. :D But couldn't.

Now that I think about it tho, I could stow away for a wedding shower present. It was two casseroles with POLKA DOTS on them and snap on lids that fit into polka dotted, insulated, zippered carrying bags.

You know, I think I might just go back and get a set. They'd be a great shower present for a young couple. polka dots on a casserole! haha.

Isn't it fun to start shopping now when the crowds are not so bad. My only trouble is sometimes not knowing yet what to get everyone, and then later, getting more, because ideas are floating around better. A hot, hot muggy day here in MN today. Your pic of the flowers is wonderful. Have fun at the BB game tomorrow! jo

You are very organized shopping ahead of time. I live in a small town so NYC sounds very sophisticated to me and I enjoy your posts.

Gulp! Christmas will be here before we know it! I'm sooooo ready for a whisp of cool weather!
As a self-defense mechanism (and to avoid becoming a Scrooge), I turned to on-line shopping/shipping a few years ago. No cosmetics or "normal" clothes required!

Oh, I used to love Christmas shopping in NY, even though it was often a hassle - but worth it. Congrats to you for getting ahead on the holidays that will be here in 4 months or so!

As to holiday shopping!!!...My lips are zipped about those who "push" the seasons. Not that I'd ever do ANYTHING like that...tee hee...

Thank you for sharing about your memories of your mother and your kindness to me as my heart seeped rather vividly this afternoon.

PS ... my Mom would be jealous of your baseball adventure. She is still a Cubs and Padres fan ... big time!

Yikes! I'm impressed and a little scared :)

My sister always starts early too. I plan to, but never seem to really do anything about it until the 1st of December :)

I have always thought it so wise to do Christmas shopping early but somehow I just can't wrap my mind around it. I have a hard enough time keeping up with monthly holidays and birthdays. I am a very organized person but gift buying puts me into a spin. Oh, just notice that is just what Being Woven said!

Our Phillies just lost 8-1 to Washington. Ugh!

I have completed most of my Christmas shopping, early even for me this year. I like to spend time on baking and decorating come November especially knowing my gifts are all bought and wrapped......:-) Hugs

Christmas shopping! I wouldn't remember where I put it ! Good for you though!
Go out to the Outlet in Riverhead. In a month or so if you got during the week it is empty!

Everytime I read your blog it makes me long to go to New York. We don't have a trip planned there this year but maybe I could talk the hubby into a week end trip? I could use the excuse I need to go Christmas shopping... :)

Blessings,
Debra
