Imagine If You Will...
Imagine if you will, the most beautiful blue-skied September morning. Imagine if you will that beautiful perfect morning turning to ash, sorrow and mourning. Imagine if you will, a loss that has grown deeper in the twenty-four years since that beautiful morning, September 11, 2001.
Wall Street, looking west. Trinity Church is in the background.
Imagine if you will a street -- actually many streets -- where cars drove freely without security checks. Imagine if you will looking down this same street twenty-four years ago and seeing the sky filled with thousands of pieces of paper that had emerged from the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
Imagine if you will, that 343 firefighters came home to their families on September 11, 2001. Imagine if you will.
This is my sixteenth blog post about September 11. I went to work -- just a few blocks south of the World Trade Center -- as I did every work day. I saw the sky filled with papers that had flown out of the North Tower and saw that same tower collapse at 10:28 a.m. I was one of the fortunate ones that came home from work that day. On that beautiful blue morning I could not/did not imagine all that I would see and experience and for that I am grateful.
On this twenty fourth anniversary I imagine and pray for a world where the skies are calm and we can live together in peace.
As ever, thanks for visiting and take good care. Please give those you love an extra hug.

That was a horrific day for everyone in our country, but I can't even begin to imagine what it was for you and all those living and working in New York on that fateful day, Carol. May God bless all the victims and families who suffered on 9/11. We will never forget.
Even though we didn't know one another in 2001, your words are every bit as ingrained in my mind as those seen and heard on television. Thank you for continuing to publish these 16 posts. Warm hugs!
Carol I never will forget, I know exactly where I was at the time. I hope the future generations are taught this and they learn the very core values of this country.
Thank you for this…we must never forget. Wishing you many blessings, Virginia
That was a terrible day, I will never forget.
As well as giving those we love a hug let's also tell them how much they are loved.
All the best Jan
Like yourself, Carol, I too will never forget the horrific events of that day. It was my first full day of being home after being laid off from my final job. A friend had called me telling me to turn on the TV news and I recall watching the events for most of that day and beyond. I had been at the WTC years before and this December will have my first chance to visit the memorial.
