I Plead Jet Lag

Elephant Walk Market in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

I returned to New York City exactly a week ago today and I'm just mostly being to feel oriented in time and place. I'm still falling asleep by 9:00 and walking up at 1 or 2 or 3 a.m., but I've now managed more days than not to avoid an afternoon nap, which throws everything totally off. I've sat down at the computer to catch up on my neglected blog and blog buddies, but I wasn't good at putting two thoughts together, let alone an entire blog post.

I was looking forward to this trip, but the reality far exceeded any of my expectations. Five countries in sixteen days, plus two visits to the airport in Dubai. Yes, it was a whirlwind, but a great opportunity to see many (fabulous) sights and have a wonderful range of experiences.  The three quick posts I wrote are just the tip of the iceberg and I hope to share much more of the trip during June.

As promised I'm doing a giveaway to two readers of change purses made by the talented woman in the photograph. I didn't buy a lot during the trip and now reflecting on the array of merchandise pictured, I regret it. The black and white tote bag in the photo is calling out to me. I will just need to make a return trip.

These two change purses will be sent to two blog buddies

The "rules" for the giveaway are easy-peasy. Please leave a comment with your summer plans through next Sunday, June 8. Travel, books you plan to read or favorite hobbies that you'd like to do are all plans, and so is sitting in front of the air conditioner and drinking iced tea. It doesn't have to be an ambitious plan. I'll do a post next Monday with the two names chosen by Random Number Generator.

I'm delighted to have gotten through my first post after getting back and my next step is visiting blogs. Hope to catch up in the next few days.

As ever, thanks for visiting and take good care.

Welcome home. Boy, it takes awhile, doesn't it, to get back on the right time zone. I don't know how many hours off US Africa is, but it must be a LOT! I'm eager to get to the lake for summer, read plenty of books, paint lots and lots, do some online classes and maybe a road trip. Where? Not sure! We'll see where the whim takes us!

Wow, what an adventure! I won't be traveling far this summer, just four camping trips to the sandy beaches of Lake Ontario, but also am getting a total knee replacement next Tuesday. Hopefully I'll be able to hobble along a bit better not long afterwards! With 16 kids and now 16 grandkids, life is never dull or boring, so I'm sure I'll have a busy summer! Looking forward reading more about your travels!

I'm thankful you had a great trip and are now safely home. I do not want to be in the give away, But thank you any way. Take time to recover and I look forward to reading more about your trip!

Welcome home, carol, and your trip sounds like a whirlwind adventure that I and others will look forward to reading about in future posts. Our summer travel plans will include family events - a graduation in June and a wedding in July. I will also be reading travel booklets for our fall adventures to Alaska and later Portugal. And, I may be going on a solo with a tour group for a NYC getaway in mid-December and it would be wonderful to meet-up with you, if possible.

I wondered what happened to you. Jet lag does take it out of us as we age. I know how you've been feeling.
Summer plans: continue to get the garden in fine shape. Today is plant the pots day. I also would like to attempt a barn quilt using old wood from the barn we have. Two trips planned: Quebec City with Gaspe Peninsula exploration and a family vacation in the Adirondacks.

It’s been so wonderful following along with you on Facebook. The photos are stunning! I am looking forward to reading/seeing more! This summer, I would like to get flowers planted. One of my daughters and I have a plan to read 20 minutes a day. So far it’s been delightful! And the last part of July I have plans to visit friends in Denmark. I am looking forward to seeing them. Have a wonderful day!

I saw your pictures on Facebook. What a wonderful trip. We are heading out of town for a little anniversary getaway. We are spending time in Flagstaff and Sedona, Arizona, and St. George, Utah. After that, we have a couple of weekend trips planned. Nothing like going to Africa, but it should be a fun and interesting summer!

You certainly don't have to apologize for your jet lag, Carol. It would have done me in - lol! What are my summer plans? Simply staying cool and living each moment with gratitude. No traveling for us. Blessings!
