Pink Saturday Goes to the Easter Parade

Easter Sunday, 2019

Though there's no Easter Parade this year, it's still Easter. Luckily, I've got my photographs and memories of a wonderful sunny day last April. I always enjoy visiting Rockefeller Center on Easter and that's exactly where I expected to be today.

The steps of  St. Patrick's Cathedral

Directly across the street from Rockefeller Center on Fifth Avenue is Saint Patrick's Cathedral. Yes, this is literally a year ago, when none of us even thought of social distancing.

My favorite part of the Easter Parade -- which isn't literally a parade, but people walking on Fifth Avenue -- are the hats. Some are store-bought and expensive and others are home created and the product of a year of creativity and work.

Two of my favorite creations. The one on the left is definitely my pick for Pink Saturday.

A second pretty in pink look

Our friend, Pep Le Monkee, joined me at Rockefeller Center

I hope you've enjoyed visiting the Easter Parade with Pep and me and I hope that you had a happy  Easter day. Tomorrow we return to our travels and we're going to Asia, and no passport needed.

As ever, thanks for visiting and take care. Much love and wash your hands!

I love these pictures, Carol. I hope we will again have these scenes next year and Covid-19 is in the past.

Oh my, I love your photos! When I was a little girl, everyone in town spent Easter Sunday (after church) walking up and down the city square showing off their Easter finery and meeting up with friends they hadn't seen all year. Your photos brought back so many wonderful memories. Thank you. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

What a fun array! My mother went through a season of making her own hats. I can still close my eyes and recall that unpleasant smell that resulted from her steaming and molding the felt.

That pink hat is gorgeous and her coat is quirky and cute! I remember the days when ladies wore hats to church, etc. My mom always did and she wore them well. Love Pep too, great pics, thanks for sharing!

Yes, thank your view of the Easter parade was appreciated. I do miss seeing all the wonderful Easter bonnets we used to wear. Maybe some day their popularity will return. I love wearing hats !

There is nothing like good old New York - love the people and life there. I am so sad you have had to endure this Covid 19 and 911 - you got hit hard - but I am sure there is going to be life after this.

I just love your photos!!!!! I live in a very small rural town and so don't get experiences like this, but I love my little town:) I have a feeling next year's Easter celebration will be one of the best ever!!!!! Thanks so much for coming by my blog and leaving a comment. Always glad to see new faces:)

A belated Happy easter, Buttercup, and this post was timely for me as we watched the classic Easter parade film the day before Easter. it was fun to see the folks parading down 5th Ave in the film. of course, nothing beats the final scene with Fred Astair and Judy Garland. I enjoyed your NYC tour.

My favorite is the ladies at the hot dog stand in the pretty pink coat, how I would love to go into St Patrick's again someday, probably not
