...Like a Big Pizza Pie

I was chatting on the phone this afternoon with my college roommate -- yes, even after forty-five years Jane will always be my college roommate -- and the topic of "P" came up in the conversation. I asked her what she thought I would pick and she very promptly replied, "Of course you're going with the pretzel." The pretzel, sold at almost every cart in Manhattan would have been a great choice, but I am picking the food that I believe is tied with the bagel for THE New York food. As my blog friend, Myra predicted, the topic for "P" is the beloved pizza.

Pizza is everywhere in New York City, everywhere. Sometimes the restaurant is dressed up...

...with cloth tablecloths.

But generally it's very dressed down with paper napkins and the pizza is sold by the slice.

I chose Pizza of SoHo to represent the thousands of pizzerias throughout New York City. I do need to make a return trip to see if this is the best Sicilian pizza in New York. I think there are a number of contenders for the title. Would anyone like to join me?

I am a pizza fan and have been since my first visits to Dino's Pizza in West Hartford, Connecticut when I was eight or nine. When I arrived in New York City I was dazzled by the fact you could buy a slice of pizza -- probably fifty cents at the time -- any time you wanted. One of my favorite styles of pizza is white pizza, made without tomato sauce. It's highly delicious and highly caloric, so it's a rare treat for me. I do have several favorite places to eat pizza and will be featuring one of them in "V."

Though not a New York food, I am also a fan of the often maligned Peeps. I couldn't resist photographing these Easter Peeps last week and yes, they are pink! Perfect for a little Pink Saturday fun.

P is for pink Peeps!

Thanks for joining me for pizza and Peeps fun. Please stop by tomorrow for a "Q"uestion.

Appreciate all of my visitors and love your comments. Wishing my friends celebrating Easter a bright and blessed weekend.

Our older daughter is a huge fan of white pizza, too. I like the traditional - - cheese with red sauce. My favorite toppings when I want some are ham, pineapple, and onion.

I love pizza - almost any kind!! White pizza sounds fantastic. My BIL likes them frozen, I've heard that Peeps this year comes in different flavors.

I haven't had a piece of pizza in ages. It's wonderful you can get it by the slice. Nothing like that here. I LOVE peeps. Bought some purple and yellow ones. The pink are pretty.

I love pizza, but haven't had any in a long time. I imagine NYC offers some excellent pizza, especially with so many pizzerias! Have a wonderful weekend :)

Pizza and Peeps are two things I love for sure. Pretzels aren't bad at all either. Even here in our small town we have a great variety of Pizza places. Thank you for your Easter wishes. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

That is one thing we love about being back here: Pizza is on every corner (or so it seems, lol). We simply did not have that down south. As a matter of fact, it looks like my son will be getting a summer job across the street at the pizza place, lol. Loved your post, as always. Blessings

I LOOOOOOOOVE Peeps.
They may now make them for all the holidays, the ones that taste the best are for the little chicks for Easter. I can't wait for this time of year and then I immediately get boxes. Terrible for my diet, but I can't help it. I love Peeps. I switch between the yellow and the pink. The pink have a little zest to them. On Monday there are deep discounts and I stock up.

i LOVE Peeps.

I forgot. I love pizza too. But, pizza I can get all year round. Peeps' chicks I can only get now.

Purely by chance I had pizza both for lunch and supper yesterday!

Why, with the myriad of choices I think Pizza could/should be its own food group! :)
Still want to try the white variety; plus those w/ a sunny-side egg atop!

Huge pizza fans here! I've never met a pizza I didn't like! I'll let the Peeps stay on the shelf, though.

Place a peep on a graham cracker toast in toaster oven a few seconds, put a piece of chocolate on top and another graham cracker...peeps s'mores. It looked cute ..xoxo,Susie

I am sure in New York there are so many eating places it would be hard to pick. Too big a city for me. I cannot eat Peeps as they are to sweet.

We had pizza twice in NYC. It was yummy. Love those peeps. A few years ago, my friend Sharon, and where she gets these ideas, I will never know, bought me a set of Peeps s/p set from Lenox! The peep is pink and the yellow peep is a bunny! It was a sweet and thoughtful gift and no calories needed! This year she was terribly ill and she can still use some prayer. Thank you Carol always for sharing fun!
