Looking for Love
Friday, August 6, 2010
I know it's not Valentine's Day and I'm not dreaming of cool weather, either. But I am thinking of romance. Romance hasn't been a topic in my life for quite awhile. In years past it was a prime topic and hope sprang eternal through good romances and not so good romances. Hope poked its head up through dozens of singles events and then, after a string of awful evenings, it just went into hibernation. I have a nice life, for which I am deeply grateful, but no romance and no hint of romance and that's the way the future stretched ahead.
Walking home this evening hope -- out of nowhere after a very long sleep -- poked its head up. Maybe somewhere, somehow there is a nice man out there. I'm not looking to rekindle any old fires, despite every other movie on cable. Somehow, in quite the same miraculous way I found my blog friends there is a romance waiting for a still-cute sixty year-old. I'm asking for inspiration and a pat on the back for my good friend, hope. Please tell me any miraculous romance stories you have lived or know of. I'll take distant ones of your sister-in-law's cousin and the great guy she met at the post office.
Dear blog sisters, you've given me hope and inspiration and laughter more times than I can count and I know hope and I can count on you again!

You never know what the future holds my dear!
It is beautiful to be full of hope. It is off-putting to be desperate. Bide your time and let it sneak up on you!
G'evening Buttercup.
At heart, I'm a Yenta (is that the correct word?) ... so color me, frustrated being so far away! I've no personal examples, but witnessed two veeeeery successful matches through Match.com. My BFF and her sweetie conducted their courtship long distance for nearly 9 years ... before he relocated!
Here's to HOPE ... keep on keepin' on, girlfriend!

Take dance classes, go to church gatherings/functions ... Mr. Romance is out there looking for you too, sweet friend. AND TRUST ME! you are worth the wait ... in case he's reading this note. She is beautiful inside out, sweet as can be ...
Have a lovely PINK summer's weekend ~
TTFN ~ Hugs of love, Marydon
First off, your petpeeves were wonderful...I wish I'd thought of them...And as far as Mr. Romance goes, it will be when you least expect it...I was divorced for 10 years, raised my daughter alone because her father was and still is an abusive alcoholic...Went through several relations and finally swore off dating, bought a sports car and thought I was happy until mutual friends tricked us into meeting...You can meet your best friend later on in life...
I have been a widow for several years. In the beginning I so hated being alone and I almost remarried but something told me no.....now I live alone and love my life. My hope was for peace, acceptance and contentment. It did take a few years but eventually my hope was fulfilled.
If a companion is what you want then I am sure you will find it, and no my friend never give up hope.....one needs hope to live.......:-)Hugs
My daughter met her hubby on Match.com. within days of her application.
My personal story is this...
I had been single for fifteen years, he had been single sixteen... at 45, we met and married. He was my brother's neighbor. I lived in Indiana, and he in Florida. We all met at breakfast one day while I was visiting in FL. We married less than 3 months after we met. We use the day we met date for all of our passwords. Our 13th anniversary is next week. I prayed to God to take away any yearning until he found the right man for me. Hope is a beautiful thing to have.
May a door open and a path be there for you to follow......
Someone is going to come along!
Jane
Okay, I have one -- and it came to my attention so boldly last week . . . now I know why -- because you would NEED to hear about it.
I was working at the church yard sale last weekend and struck up a conversation with a woman. The woman was certainly a few years older than you and not nearly as cute (really!), but she was nice enough and we, for some reason, got to talking. As we talked, I learned that she is a newlywed! Married only 2 years. She was from -- get this -- Manhattan! She said she fell in love "with an old coot" and the next thing she knew, she'd moved to Maryland to be with him -- they got married straight away.
Later, I was strolling the yard sale myself and I heard someone calling to me. Sure enough, it was my new friend (Mary). She wanted to introduce me to her "old coot." Well, he certainly was quite a few years older than her (and way too old for you), but he was charming, really, really charming, and I could see the way they brought out the cuteness in each other. I left them when they were next in line at the snow cone stand.
They were very happy, loving, and had met at ages well past yours. And they were even from separate worlds (he had been a cattle farmer all his life while she grew up in NYC!). You just never know.
But I do know this. You are right to ask for reassurance, because the universe sure made sure I had something to offer you today. I've met you -- you're lovely. You have a lot to offer someone. Keep making small steps in that direction -- you're on the right track, I know it.
Well they are all great suggestions and I will be hoping and praying for you gal! You would be an awesome girlfriend and or wife. sandie
I don't think love and romance ever die.. I know I have been very fortunate in my life . I had been happily married for 25 years and was in my fifties when I was widowed and I tried to settle to life as a solo. I hated it because I need to care for someone and be cared for. Along came a widower and I was a teenager again We've now lived together almost 25 years --and he brought me roses before he went off cycling for a few days last month ! We're knocking on now but I tell him every day that I love him and he tells me the same. It's never too late !
Well I aint going to be much help to you as I am in the same situation as you are !! however we must never give up is my thoughts...but then I think what would I realy do if Mr. Romance came along...would I be willing to give up all my freedoms, my holidays doing whatever I like without having to answer to anyone, how would I like to have to consider him whenever I wanted to do something...would it all be worth it....I am not so sure...LOL
LOve Sybil xx
