Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue

The scene on Saturday at one of my favorite florists

Roses Are Red (and pink and white and yellow), Violets Are Blue

I Love These Flowers and Most Others, Too.

This may be one of my favorite flower combinations,
Roses, tulips and peonies

What are your flower favorites? My other favorites are lilacs. We had lilac bushes when I was growing up and the scent of lilacs for that sweet, short season in spring brings back memories of springtime with my parents so long ago.

Blessedly the weather is above freezing and most of the time it's sunny. I know we will still have a month (or so) of winter, but I'm relatively sure that the worst is over. I've put my heavy boots back into the closet and fingers crossed that it's the last of them for 2026.

To make the most of the sunny and warmer weather, I took an excursion to Rockefeller Center yesterday to see the ice skaters, always one of my favorite activities.

Today was a day at the gym and a lot of little errands. I'm not sure how the weeks have gotten so busy with things to do, though I think as the years have gone by I'm not able to get as much done in a day as I once did. Has anyone else noticed this? And  where do all these errands come from? They seem to grown like weeds. By the time it's night I find that I'm just tired.

As ever, thanks for visiting and take good care.

  1. Lilacs are my favorite too! My mother's birthday is in May, and I always tried to bring her some lilacs...they remind me so much of her.

  2. Believe me, Carol, if I get a week where I don't have to go/be anywhere, that's a cause for celebration! If you could see our schedule for medical checks between my husband and myself, our weeks are too often overloaded. This month? A respite and blessing from the Lord! Enjoy every moment that God gives you, my friend.

You sound busy . I am spending my days watching ( in awe ) the Olympics, whilst my lovely tuxedo cat sleeps on my lap

  4. My favorite flower is the Sunflower, it is so bright and cheerful! I certainly have noticed myself slowing down and can't do as much as I'd like, but the important thing is I'm still moving!

  5. I do love all those flowers. Yes, errands all the time and yes seems I can't do all the things I used to do. Golden years.

  6. Hard to pick a favorite flower but I'll go with daisies. Sunflowers too.

  7. Growing up we had 2 lilac trees in the yard and to this day, the scent remains my favorite. The floral displays everywhere for Valentine’s Day were beautiful. Winter is still here (sigh) especially as a few more inches of ❄️ are forecast for Nashua, NH, on Friday.

  8. Beautiful flowers shown in the pictures.
At the moment I'm enjoying seeing some daffodils in vases :)

    All the best Jan

  9. I adore lilacs. As I get older I find the days and months are too long, while the weeks go by in a flash. This is so weird and don't understand how that is.

  10. I hope the noreaster avoids you. My have too many favorites. I love the spring bulb flowers -- daffs, hyacinths, crocus. In summer, zinnias and sweet peas. In fall, sunflowers! And probably more!
