Not a Drop in Sight...

...but the schools are already closed for tomorrow and I've got my food supplies in stock for the promised blizzard. Actually there is a prediction for 8-13" of snow, which didn't count as a blizzard when I was growing up. But I'm prepared...

Spent yesterday at the oral surgeon and at the dentist. Luckily they're right around the corner from each other, so I could run over to the dentist's office after the oral surgeon was done with me. Not a terrible experience, especially as dental procedures go, but I took today off and may even take tomorrow off if I'm not quite 100% recovered.

Had a very nice weekend in Providence. Lots of family and friends and my eight year old cousin was thrilled that the whole family had come for her Hebrew School dedication. There was a lovely luncheon after services and it was great to catch up with the family. All six of my teenage cousins were there and I had a great time chatting with all of them.

Dental work or not, I love having a quiet evening ahead. I'm going to catch up with all of my blog friends, enter some contests, read -- I'm at the beginning of "The Help" and liking it a lot --  and maybe catch "The Biggest Loser." What are your evening plans?

  1. We've got lots of snow coming down here in Ohio so I guess it's on its way to you. It just doesn't seem to stop. The drive home from work was a very slow trip. Road conditions weren't great at all. I'm just glad to be home. Enjoy your quiet evening, I'm having one too.

  2. If you want snow you can drop by and take some of our 24 inches....they are calling for 8 more, but I was just out at the gym and frankly...it isn't coming...

A shower and bed are up next for me...but your evening sounds way more interesting!

  3. Oh, its the wind not the snow that creates the call for a blizzard, high winds are going to be terrible & it is another nor'easter ... it is gloriously snowing here, YIPPEE!! They are calling for 20"+ on top of the 30" we got here at the house last weekend ... I am so happy. It is breathtaking outside.

    Happy Valentine's
    Have a beautiful week!
    Hugs, Marydon

  4. Snow, snow and more snow here.
Just finished shoveling for the evening. Now we will see how much more needs to be shoveled by morning.
I'm ready for a bath and bedtime all snuggled and warm. May watch a bit of tv or sew on my quilt. Hope you enjoy your day or two off, even though the dentist DOES NOT sound fun.

  5. I thought that The Help was an outstanding book.
It made you see things from a totally different prospective!
Am so glad for you that your oral surgery is behind you now. We dread dentistry procedures so!
We've had snow all dang day, and they say that tomorrow will be a nightmare. No school anywhere, but all the kids were running loose and using all the computers at the library today! Mothers were calling in to see if their child was there, good heavens, the library became the town wide baby sitter today!

  6. I enjoyed The Help book as well. It was eye opening how things use to be.
Hope you get some rest while snowed in.
    Dental work is no fun.

  7. My daughter just moved to Pennsylvania. She's lived in Texas all her life and has probably only seen a few snow flurries in 25 years. Well, welcome to Pennsylvania: 24 inches her first weekend!
    Stay warm.

  9. I'm so amazed at how you guys cope with all that cold weather. I don't think I could do it.

I hope you are continuing to recuperate well. Take good care!

  10. Hey Buttercup,
I was standing next to some DOE somebody (he introduced himself but the name flew out of my head) when he checked his Blackberry and said the mayor is making announcement at 1pm -schools closed tomorrow! Those of us in the NYC school system know that snow day is a RARE treasure! How many times have we listened to the AM news announcer read a list of all the closed suburban districts and end with sentence all NYC schools are open on schedule today?
Hope you are home and warm and not having mouth pain!

  11. Hi Buttercup!!!
I do not want to even share what I did last night or the experience, unfortunately the story needs to be told , but not tonight, going on 4 hours of sleep, I got a little nap in today, but the darn Phone rang and rang!!!!
The story needs to be told --if it helps one person then worth the story
    hugs,
    jamie
    keep warm!!!!
    Happy Valentine's Day early!!!
