There are three areas where I'd like less this year. I'd like less of me. I know I'd feel better weighing 20 pounds less. With that in mind I will focus on how I can eat less.
I'd like less clutter around me. When I look around my apartment I see too much paper. I feel as though I haven't thrown a piece of paper out in the eighteen years that I've lived here. I have. I seem to throw out bags of paper weekly, but it still piles up. And I am a saver. I save magazines to be read at a later time, newspaper articles that may come in handy one day and crossword puzzles that I may want to do one some night that I can't sleep. It's all just too much. The dining room table has about three weeks of unsorted mail staring at me. The cards are on display and the bills are in their file, but everything else is unsorted and at the cusp of taking over the table. My goal for this weekend is to reclaim the table and sort out some of the pile in a drawer that is waiting to be filed. With this victory I will begin the attempt to wring some order to my paper morass.
I hope to worry less, especially about my job. My job is (seemingly) secure, but we are facing real funding issues that may impact our pay and other benefits. This is a frequent topic of conversation in the office. Some of the discussion is based in fact and some is just conjecture. I need to spend less time with colleagues discussing what might happen. I have no control over these actions and as with so many issues, my worry will not change anything.
I am hoping to get a handle on these three issues. And when -- not if -- I do less will be so much more!
Hi there! I certainly do understand about needing Less of stuff. I could do with less stuffing myself so there would be less of this belly! And like you, Less paper! It seems to multiply and take over areas. Yes, Less clutter would be so freeing - well, we'll both know we are working on the same problems. Onward...

Less is more they say. I save everything and really need to get rid of all those catalogs that came in the mail before Christmas. I won't be buying anything from them but they've stayed around just because they are fun to look at. I should just pitch the whole bunch. Hope everything goes well at your work place. Office gossip is not a good thing but trying to avoid it is sometimes impossible. One of the very few reasons I love my job is that I'm a one gal office and there's no one to gossip with or listen to. That is a very good thing in my books.
ReplyDeleteI too am a pack rat! I had to have RULES for it...especially magazines...if January comes then December get thrown away even if I haven't read it. If I didn't then I just didn't make enough time!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you!!!
"Less is more."
ReplyDeleteWell, except money. Then more is more, and more is better!!!
I want to lose 20 pounds, too! You go first, then tell me how to do it.
The older I get the less clutter I want around me. I get out of sorts when I think things are getting disorganized. I sometimes feel like I can't think straight and I certainly cannot seem to settle down when I have too much going on around me. Let me tell you purging is so liberating. It feels so good. It is like a breath of fresh air.

HI Buttercup!!!
ReplyDeleteI on the other hand toss out everything!!! I sometimes think I'm not very useful because I toss everything, then when I remember that I saw something I have to look for it online!!! But I agree about clutter, it can be overwhelming!!!!I need to lose about 10 menopause pounds, if I were really honest it would be 15!!!!!I hope to exercise more this year!!!! Good luck with your new year wishes!!!
Don't worry about your job, but then I hear that from alot of people!!! It is kinda scary!!!!
I will pray for Peace for you and job security!!!
hugs my dear friend,
jamie
Good wishes! Yes, only worry about the stuff you can actually do something about!
ReplyDeleteHi Buttercup. I so agree with you especially about the "Less" of the fat around the middle !! if only I could exercise I am sure it would help...thats what I keep telling myself anyway... as for paper etc I am not so bad, it only gets so far then I take a daft turn and throw everthing..Mary dos'nt like me in that mood as she is sure somthing important will fly out the door....well I have to admit it has happened !!....As for worrying about work...well ..less work...could be no work and that would be bad bad bad...so we will pray maybe for enough work but less of everything else
ReplyDeleteMuch Love Sybil xx
we all seem to get so much paper goods...every day in the mailbox..more and more..what a waste...you are so right about decluttering and I wish you well.....do you recycle it?
ReplyDeleteI need to lose EIGHTY pounds, but would be thrilled to lose twenty!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to be clutterless as well...but am married to a pack-rat!
Ugh! Good intentions...we should dare ourselves to follow through. Maybe this is the year!!!
I need to weigh less and I need to have less stuff! I want to travel lighter - with a lighter body.

Stuff. Me too. I have too much "stuff". I go shop for stuff, buy stuff, bring home stuff and then throw stuff away. Insane.
